Tuacahn!

We went to St. George earlier this week for the Tuacahn Tour. Tay's dance company provided pre-show entertainment before The Sound of Music on Monday and prior to Les Miserables on Tuesday night. We had a fantastic trip! My mom, my mother-in-law, Tay and I had a great time enjoying wonderful shows, relaxing at the pool, enjoying great food and great company. It was so nice to be able to spend time with "the grandmas". They are wonderful women that I love and look up to very much. Tay and I were sooo glad that we could go with them. We could not have asked for better company!

We had a fantabulous time! Tay has great friends from dance. We (the kids and moms) spend so much time together during the year (for almost 5 years now), that it made the trip even more fun. It was nice to have time to do things together outside of dance practice and performances. The weather wasn't even too bad, we had been dreading the heat (it was 104 while we were there) but it helped to be at the pool and up the canyon at the theatre. Thanks Mom and Sharon for going! We love you!

Family BBQ

We had a family BBQ on Sunday. We had a great time visiting, watching the kids play (and get dirty), and eating delicious food! Don't you just love summer? My mom came down so that she could go to Tuacahn with us and my brother, sister-in-law, and my two nieces drove down from Layton to hang out too. My mother and father-in-law were over as well. It was a fun afternoon! Tay was ELATED to see her cousins. She thinks that Soph is great and she hadn't seen Dyl for six months. Dyl lives with her mom in Mass. and she and Tay have always been very close!

They are 2 1/2 weeks apart in age, but Dyl has a few inches on Tay in height.

Our backyard isn't in yet--so we have lots of dirt, which Sophie was delighted to play in. She got so DIRTY!! She was laying in it, playing in it and eventually wearing a lot of it! She had a great time--but I think we will all be glad when there is grass for her to play on!

Jayce was the most popular girl around! She drove the girls around theneighborhood on the "the camel". They thought she was pretty fantabulous!

Swimming lessons, baseball games and more!

We have spent the past month doing a lot of running around! Tay has had a lot of dance practices in preparation for Tuacahn, a week of swimming lessons and has had baseball practices and games. With all of this running around, you would think that her mom would be so much thinner--no such luck! We also had a few days of NOT running around. Tay had the ugly, puking, high fever flu for three days (Happy Father's Day to her Dad) and a couple of days with a foot injury on the couch. So much fun!

I have been such a slacker about blogging lately, but we have been busy. So here is my attempt to catch you up. Tay and I spent a week in Idaho hanging out with my family. It was great! Tay helped my mom plant flowers, watched a few of Doss' (Kenze's beau) baseball games, and relaxed!

We also went to CSI with Mykenze and my parents. Kenze had a cheerleading fundraiser and we kept ourselves entertained by checking out apartments for her to live in and visited with family.

Graduation at SHS

The class of 2008 graduated from SHS last Friday. We drove to Idaho to see my little sister, Mykenze, graduate. Kenze looked beautiful! It is amazing to me how quickly she has grown up. She is a great person and I am truly blessed to have her in my life. I am excited for her to start the new adventures in her life but a little sad that she is old enough to be on her own. We have loved watching her become the smart, sweet and fun person that she is.

Having grown up in a small town--and graduated from one, I can honestly say that I much prefer their graduations to the ones that I have attended for larger schools. Not only because they are generally shorter in length, but because they are much more personal. Everyone knows everyone else. There were less than 100 graduates, and for the most part they have grown up together. A highlight for my sister was receiving her diploma from my dad. We have all had that privelege, even though I am sure that there were times that we wished our dad wasn't at school to know our every move. This year marked the 22nd graduation that he has participated in and the end of our family attending SHS. I didn't graduate 22 years ago, but let's be honest--it wasn't too many years later that I did! And, we were able to spend the weekend with my parents, sisters, and brother!

The End of 1st Grade!

School ended a day early for Tay this year. We traveled to Idaho on her last day of school, so as the day wrapped up on Thursday, she announced to her class "I won't be here tomorrow, so who wants to give me a hug?" Her teacher thought that was a good one, and her class obliged. First graders are so cute and Tay has had a fun class. The few times I have picked her up early from school, her classmates have told me where I was taking her and then not let her leave without giving hugs or knuckles. She has had a great year with fun friends and a wonderful teacher. What more could we ask for?
